Why oh why?
Mood:  irritated
Topic: 35 Days-End of Week Five
Okay, now I'm REALLY getting mad. I have hit a big plateau and it isn't moving, people! 10 pounds...and stopping!

This week I am on "The Seven Day Break" which means that my whole diet is changed up. That would be fine, except that they DON'T expect me to lose any weight this week and I might even gain a pound or two. This is supposed to boost my metabolism and get me ready to lose more weight.

All of this would be fine except that part of what keeps me going is that I am GETTING SOMEWHERE. The diet isn't that bad and I'm never hungry. However, those cravings for potato chips, fries, and hamburgers have never gone away. What kept my spirits up was knowing that I would lose a pound or two...making the loss of junk food bearable.

Now I'm still on a diet and NOT expected to lose weight. This is kind of depressing. Oh well, if it works in the long run...then it is worth it.

28 Days - End of Week Four
Mood:  hungry
Topic: Even Keel
Today I'm feeling a little frustrated. I hit a plateau this week and only lost one pound. Actually, my weight kept fluctuating between one pound and no weight loss...to be perfectly honest.

Wednesday and Thursday we did a water flush and omit of one fruit and one starch. That didn't do it, so today and yesterday I was put on a protein plateau breaker.

Oh my. For the first time, I have been hungry. In addition, Friday I took a day off from my workout schedule because I have felt a little sore. Or was that, "out of sorts?"

I am hoping that tomorrow will show some movement on the scale. In the meantime, I am off to the gym and hopefully some restful napping.

I lasted 21 days?
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: Day 21-End of Week Three
Today I am finishing three weeks on the Quick Weight Loss plan. I am one of those reluctant joiners...I never thought I would follow the plan, let alone plop down hundreds of dollars to do so.

However, I have actually stuck to this thing the whole time...and I have lost 8 pounds.

"EIGHT POUNDS?" you scream. Yes, it may or may not sound like much...depending on your experiences. But I have had a troubled past that has haunted me on my past (luckless) sojourns into weight loss.

Yes, I enjoyed a tremendous metabolism in my "youth." In my early twenties,I could swallow a whole pizza and teach two aerobics classes without working up too much sweat. So what happened? A spinal cord injury, partial paralysis, forced sedentary lifestyle...you name it.

So here I am, 8 months after surjury number four. Almost completely recovered from three and a half years of paralysis, free of PAIN (the main goal for a while), and finally set free by a doctor to search for the nearest stairmaster. Did I mention that I was forbidden to undertake stringent exercise after that fusion at age 33? Even walking? AH...free to exercise again. At over 200 pounds. Um, maybe that isn't freedom after all...........
